2018 Jecheon Asia Film Music Honorary Award to Tan Dun

The Jecheon International Music and Film Festival awarded Tan Dun its 2018 Jecheon Asia Film Music Honorary Award. The honor recognizes composers for significant contributions to Asian film music. Tan Dun will accept the award at the 14th Jecheon Music and Film Festival, a six-day event in Jecheon, South Korea, with over 110 films.
 
His soundtracks include Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), Hero (2002), and The Banquet (2006). His prestigious honors include a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, a Grawemeyer Award, the Bach Prize, the Shostakovich Award, Musical America's Composer of the Year, and most recently, Italy's Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement.
 
This past year, The Walt Disney Company commissioned a new work from Tan Dun. He conducted it at the grand opening celebration of the Shanghai Disney Resort, which was broadcast to a record-breaking audience worldwide. As a conductor, Tan Dun serves as the Honorary Artistic Director of the China National Symphony Orchestra. His current conducting season includes leading the NDR Radiophilharmonie in a five-city tour in Germany as well as engagements with the London Symphony Orchestra and at the Venice Biennale.
