As part of the International Flamenco Festival, Benet Casablancas' Romanza Sin Palabras: Homage to Granados received its world premiere on March 10, 2016 by the Perspectives Ensemble, the artist in residence group at the Foundation for Iberian Music. Casablancas is known to compose in what he considers a "contemporary classic" style, writing with dense expressivity.

For this week's playlist we bring you a selection of works by Spanish composers. We start off with Casablancas' Epigramas for small ensemble. Next we bring to you Albèniz's ever so famous Asturias from the Suite Española. Our next piece is Nana from de Falla's Popular Spanish Songs, and his enchanting Nights in the Gardens of Spain. Later on you will hear the forty-six minute work También La Lluvia by Alberto Iglesias, and pieces by Ramón Paus and Angel Illarramendi.
