Joseph Horovitz on German and US radio
Joseph Horovitz was featured recently as Composer of the Week on Bayerischer Rundfunk’s classical music programme, with daily interviews and an hour-long programme about his life and career. The programmes included excerpts from his Euphonium Concerto, Jazz Concerto, String Quartet No.5, Clarinet Sonatina, “Horrortorio” and “Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo”.

Horovitz was also the subject of a two-hour interview with presenter Jim Svejda on KUSC, the classical music radio station based in Los Angeles. The broadcast highlighted works on two recent CDs: the Euphonium Concerto with David Childs, from Chandos, and Concertante for Clarinet and Strings, the Clarinet Sonatina and Variations on a Theme of Paganini, with Victoria Soames Samek, on the Clarinet Classics label.

The latter two works and the scena “Lady Macbeth” will receive performances next month, when Horovitz is one of the featured contemporary composers in the Park Lane Group Young Artists New Year Series in the South Bank’s Purcell Room.
