Following a recent visit to Sydney when commissioned by the ACO, Tarik O’Regan has been working with Sydney Dance Company’s Artistic Director and choreographer Rafael Bonachela. Developing some new material around his work Scattered Rhymes, the final score (commissioned by Sydney Dance) brings together this very pure element of the achingly beautiful 14th century poetry being sung a cappella, with more dark electronic interludes created in the studio with Nick Wales. The result is a 30 minute work as part of a double bill, Louder Than Words, opening in October at the Sydney Theatre.
Rafael Bonachela’s new work takes inspiration from poetry and music, drawing on the words of 14th century Italian scholar and poet Petrarch, as interpreted by O’Regan and Australian composer Nick Wales.
