Chester Music is delighted to have entered into an agreement with composer and multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry through his album Music for Heart and Breath which was released on Deutsche Grammophon on June 9 2014.

Music for Heart and Breath is Parry's debut album as a classical composer and is a series of compositions that use involuntarily moving organs of the human body (specifically the lungs and heart) as performance parameters. He has used these basic body-rhythms to pioneer a unique new way of composing, creating intimately personal pieces that follow the tempos of the players' own bodies.

The music is performed by an exciting line-up of musicians, including Kronos Quartet, Nico Muhly and Chester Music's Bryce Dessner who also produced the album.

Richard describes himself as a 'full spectrum musician' and, inspired by the likes of Steve Reich and Brian Eno, has been steadily broadening his horizons as a writer. He is well know for his work as a multi-instrumentalist with the critically acclaimed, Grammy award winning alternative rock band, Arcade Fire.

Parry joins some of the biggest names in classical music represented by the Music Sales Group, well known for supporting composers at all stages of their career. It has long been identified with leading composers of the twentieth century such as Barber, Stravinsky, Lutoslawski and De Falla, some of the finest international contemporary music by composers such as Corigliano, Henze, Maxwell Davies, Nyman, Saariaho, and Weir as well as the most exciting composers of the next generation including Joby Talbot, Nico Muhly, Bryce Dessner, Missy Mazzoli and Helen Grime.
