Gregson Highlights
Edward Gregson recently spent three days in BBC Media City's state of the art recording studio with the BBC Philharmonic and Bramwell Tovey, recording a new disc of his orchestral music (Volume 4 for the Chandos label). Included on the disc are two major orchestral works - Dream Song and Concerto for Orchestra - plus two concertos: those for flute and horn, with soloists Wissam Boustany and Richard Watkins. The CD is due for release in July of this year.

Gregson is to be the featured composer at the forthcoming North American Brass Band Association contest to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday April 12. His music has been chosen for each section of the national contest, with the championship section (where the finest brass bands in North America will be performing) setting his new Symphony in two movements as the test piece. Edward Gregson will be attending the festival where he will be presented with the President's Award for his outstanding contribution to the brass band repertoire.

Recently Gregson attended the Belgium premiere of his symphony for brass band. It was performed by Brass Band Buizingen, conducted by Luc Vertommen, as their own choice work at the Belgium National Championships. On the same weekend, the work received its Swiss premiere, and in February it will receive its premiere by a Norwegian band at the Norwegian Championships to be held at the Grieg Hall, Bergen.
