After being premiered in Linz, Austria Symphony No 10 by
Philip Glass will receive its US Premiere on August 10 at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music conducted by Marin Alsop. Edinburgh Festival will feature music by Philip Glass by presenting La Belle et la Bête as well as Philip Glass & Patti Smith: Footnote to Howl, The Poet Speaks (August 10-13). Later in August the Helsinki Festival (August 18-21) takes a turn in featuring Glass with a presentation of Koyaanisqatsi with the Philip Glass Ensemble, Etudes and other works for solo piano and a Philip Glass Ensemble Retrospective.As part of the year-long The Rest is Noise
festival (November 3) at London’s Southbank Centre the Philip Glass Ensemble will present Music in Twelve Parts. This concert provides a rare opportunity to hear a complete performance of Glass’ four-hour Minimalist masterpiece.
