The Los Angeles Philharmonic have announced a two-year contract extension for Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Director Esa-Pekka Salonen, taking his commitment through the 2007/2008 season. Salonen said “I feel privileged to work for this incredibly exciting symphonic organization. There is no better or more exciting job I could be doing at this moment.”
This February the orchestra are giving a “Salonen x 3” festival, in which he will conduct a number of his own works alongside standards from the repertoire. They will then take the pieces to Cologne for their residency there in April.
