McCabe and the Malcolm Arnold Festival
A weekend of concerts exploring the range and depth of the music of Malcolm Arnold will reach an exhilarating climax with a performance of his Symphony No 4. Now in its fourth year, the Malcolm Arnold Festival will once again be held at the Royal & Derngate Theatres, Northampton, on October 24 and 25.

In a departure for the festival, composer, pianist and long-standing Arnold champion John McCabe will be present during the weekend to discuss and perform his own work alongside Arnold’s, including a concert of choral music by the Elysian Singers conducted by Sam Laughton at St Matthew’s Church, Northampton. McCabe will also be among the judges in the inaugural Malcolm Arnold Composition Competition.

In addition to performances of chamber, orchestral and brass music, John Turner and string players from the RNCM will give a concert of the complete music for recorder.

The final, gala concert will also include Arnold’s Carnival of the Animals alongside Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with soloist Boris Brovtsyn.
