January 23 2009 sees the world premiere of Violin Concerto No 2 by Hugh Wood. The work will be premiered by the Milton Keynes City Orchestra with soloist Alexandra Wood and conducted by Siân Edwards. Hugh Wood has a long association with soloist Alexandra Wood, since he taught her at Cambridge and heard her play on a number of occasions. It was on hearing Alexandra play the composer’s Poem for violin and piano that Hugh resolved to write a concerto for her.
The world premiere takes place at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
