The world premiere of the seasonally titled Winter Song by Judith Weir takes place on December 14 at Glasgow City Halls. The work will be performed by the one of the commissioning orchestras, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Oliver Knussen. Judith Weir explains that “emotionally, the music was inspired by the idea of walking through the difficult days of winter, and the idea that simply keeping going, making some kind of forward motion, may lead to better times.” The concert will be repeated at Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on December 15.
