Edition Wilhelm Hansen

Established in 1857 as a modest music seller and engraver, Edition Wilhelm Hansen is now the largest music publisher in Scandinavia. The company catalogue includes the most celebrated Scandinavian composers, from established masters like Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius, Carl Nielsen, Vagn Holmboe, and Arne Nordheim, to contemporary Danish composers such as Per Nørgård, Poul Ruders, Bent Sørensen, Hans Abrahamsen, and Karsten Fundal.

Edition Wilhelm Hansen produce a variety of songbooks, educational books and CDs, and are now a major supplier of printed music in Scandinavia as well as the largest single recipient of performing and mechanical publishing income in Denmark.

Chairman of the board Tine Birger Christensen is a fifth-generation member of the Wilhelm Hansen family. Her daughter Loui Törnqvist now heads the Copenhagen-based company where she continues the Edition Wilhelm Hansen policy of engaging with new media platforms and formats while strengthening traditional music publishing.

Edition Wilhelm Hansen’s Rental Library represents all of the Group’s composers, as well as such overseas houses such as Boosey and Hawkes, Sikorski and Salabert.
